THE SSTI PROGRAM

Strength Training:  A sport specific program trains the body specifically for golf. Strength training involves body awareness, muscular control, and coordination.

Core Training: The most important area of the body for a golfer is the "core".

Why? Because the "core", which includes the abdominals, lower back and even the hamstrings are critical in protecting the lower back from injury; and being able to create enough torque to unwind our bodies and produce maximum clubhead speed.

The golf swing puts a tremendous amount of tension on the spine and lower back. If this area is weak and inflexible, the spine takes the brunt of the pressure not the muscles. This will most definitely result in a lower back injury.

Flexibility: The more flexible a golfer is, the better chance he/or she has at making an optimal backswing and producing maximum club head speed.

As we get older, flexibility becomes a greater issue when attempting recreational activities such as golf. Increasing flexibility and improves one’s golf!

Golf Fact: Golfers need fitness   to reduce the incidence of injury. Did you know that 53% of male and 45% of female golfers suffer from low back pain, and 30% of all touring professionals are playing injured at any given time?
